Wrestlers Battle Opponents and Injuries on the Mat

LINCOLN, KS - The residents of Lincoln were treated to a bonanza of wrestling this week as the wrestling team hosed Beloit, Smoky Valley, and Russell on Thursday night in double dual action and played host to the rotating Lincoln/Ellsworth Round Robin on Saturday. The round robin was attended by Plainville, Osborne, Smoky Valley, Chapman, and Ellsworth.

While there were many teams in town this week, the biggest foe facing the Leopards has been sickness and injuries. With the team already short on heathly wrestlers, Austin Biggs, a freshman wrestling in the 119 class broke his arm against Russell Thursday night and will be out of action until late February. Coach Naasz must be hoping that Santa brings his team health for Christmas this year.

With school out for the next two weeks, the wrestlers will be heading back to the practice room until they reemerge on January 8 for the Concordia JV Tournament and the varsity will pick back up the following day when they attend the Ellsworth Invitational.
