PHILLIPSBURG, KS—When the dust settled after the shootout that was the Panther Classic, Norton the #1 team in 3-2-1A stood atop the team standings with a three and a half point margin over Abilene the #4 team in 4A. The top five was rounded out by Hoxie (#3 3-2-1A), Phillipsburg (#2 3-2-1A), and Minneapolis (#5 3-2-1A). Phillipsburg’s annual tournament is seen by many as the premier tournament in Northwest Kansas with as many as four wrestlers per class ranked in the coaches top six poll.
Lincoln wrestlers wrestled tough against these tough opponents and Kevin Street (130) and Seth Suelter (285) were both able to leave with hard earned medals with Street placing 3rd behind #1 and #6 at 130 and Suelter getting 4th behind the #1 and #3 wrestlers in the state.
This coming week the Leopards will finish their regular season with duals at home against Stafford and St. John’s Military School and the seniors and their parents will be honored.
