Timson and Ussrey Place at Beloit

Jan. 22, 2011

Beloit, KS--The 41st Beloit Invite showed once again why it is touted as one of the toughest tournaments in the state. This weekend 22 teams fought it out on four mats for two days. At the end, Clay Center stood tall against the rest with an impressive 63 point margin between them and a distant 2nd Hoxie squad.

Wrestling tough, all seven of the Lincoln wrestlers entered in the tournament made it through a tough Day 1 on Friday. Saturday's first round was not kind to Lincoln as all but two wrestlers were eliminated in hard fought matches. After winning, Steven Timson (215) and Sean Ussrey (145) were able to fight their way through the consolation round and qualified for the 5th place match. While both were unable to finish the tournament with a win, they were able to bring home 6th place medals from a very prestigious tournament and both finished with 3-3 records.

Lincoln will next be in action on Saturday Jan. 29 at the Red Cloud/Blue Hill (NE) Invite where they will compete against teams from South Central Nebraska.
