BELOIT, KS – The 40th installment of the Beloit invite was contested this weekend with 4A powers Clay Center, Abilene, and Colby leading the pack. The Leopards were treated to as tough of competition as there is in North Central Kansas for two days and Kyle Zachgo survived the 145 class to finish in 6th place. The rest of the team wrestled tough, but ranked wrestlers kept anyone else from gracing the medal stand.
The true class of the Lincoln program shone through right before finals. As the Beloit team was getting ready to break down from four mats to one for the championship matches, the entire Leopard squad jumped into action and helped to roll up and move the mats out of the gym and into the Beloit wrestling room. “It was an awesome thing to see all those blue shirts out there moving Beloit’s mats, our kids are awesome when it comes to stuff like that, they did the same thing at the Onaga tournament earlier this season.” said Coach Naasz.
Next up for the Leopards is a trip north into Nebraska for the Red Cloud Invite where there will be twelve schools competing. Lincoln and Republic Co. will be the only two schools representing Kansas in Red Cloud.
