STAFFORD, KS -- Lincoln wrestling tried something new. It attended a dual tournament in Stafford for the first time in Coach Naasz's tenure. "I really like the setup of the tournament and the fact our kids have the potential to come away with 5 matches" commented Naasz late Thursday night. Lincoln lost two very close duals with 4A schools Nickerson and Maize South and picked up a win in dominating fashion over a short handed Stafford squad. "I would count Coach Sweet (Stafford) as one of my best friends, but when we compete its like any other match. The score didn't truely reflect thier ability as a team. They will be a lot tougher come regionals, but tonight our kids really did step it up against them." said Naasz when asked about the win.
The team will get some needed time off since their next competition is eight days away. They will next be on the Mat at the 40th Annual Beloit Invite one of the regions toughest tournaments. First whistle is at 2 pm Friday January 22 and 9:30 am Saturday January 23.
